I founded Solvue-IT to address the expensive IT skills gap between large corporates and the small to medium business sector. It frustrated me that this gap made it almost impossible for businesses to gain a competitive edge without a large outlay of money.

As I’ve been on both sides; deep within the depths of the large enterprise and at the head of an SME, I based my business model on the experience of a few interesting things, which I’ve listed below.

The hard truth is that most business owners today don’t truly understand IT

To most, information technology is reactive decisions for general support or a website, a laptop, some cloud services, maybe an app and some basic connectivity. The 4th Industrial Revolution terminology is bandied about, as is the Internet of Things, and more. – but the actual scope of IT is not fully understood.

Automating business processes, the importance of an IT strategy or implementing controls to manage IT governance along with IT Architecture, CTO and more, puts people into a spin. They don’t always fully understand why or what or how. It also sounds so expensive, and they often believe they do not need it.

And the best skills are expensive

Most skilled resources want to work for large corporates (banks, consulting firms, etc.) and when these types of resources are seconded to smaller clients, it limits their growth and their salary. All of this, in turn, can create a shortage of skills available to businesses smaller than large corporates.

Large corporates can afford to have the entire value chain of IT resources, whereas smaller businesses would rather allocate funds to areas such as inventory, sales and operations and just stick with tech support services.

The majority of IT companies out there that service the space below large corporates are often in it to make quick money. Those who are passionate about delivering the service have limited resources and skills and, they too, cannot afford highly skilled individuals outside of support and operations (such as Business Analysts, Project Managers, Solutions Architects, etc.). Many of these businesses have been founded by IT technical resources who also have limited business knowledge … I used to be one of them.

So, back to Solvue-IT

Imagine having a corporate IT team at your fingertips to address any IT need that you may have. With these types of IT skills and services at your disposal (in an extremely cost-effective manner), the possibilities are endless. Your business could be the next Facebook or it can have the ability to innovate like no other.

At Solvue-IT we make this possible for all businesses. As a result of my frustrations, shared above,  we have developed a service model that provides business owners with an enterprise level service at a fraction of the cost. We are able to make available the entire scope of IT (not just support, website, network, and more) to give your business the competitive edge that it needs as well as assist you to truly Future Proof your business.

It’s taken a few years to get this right – and a lot of very passionate people to make it happen. But NOW, more than ever before, business owners deserve to have a level playing field to give themselves the best opportunity for success.

The pandemic has taught us all about agility and innovation and I fully intend to provide EVERY type of business with the edge to reach their full potential.
